Show footer information on your slides
Click INSERT > Header & Footer. On the Slide tab, check Footer. In the box below Footer, type the text that you want, such as the presentation title. Check Date and time to add that to your slides.
If the footer box is unticking itself the usual cause is the footer placeholder has been deleted on the master or custom layout. If it’s not on the custom layout then select the layout and in the ribbon choose the Slide Master Tab and make sure footer is checked.
Although you can delete these footers manually, it’s easier to click on the “Insert” tab in the PowerPoint ribbon, locate the Text group, click on the “Header and Footer” item, uncheck the “Footer” option and click on the “Apply to All” button.
Why are page numbers not showing in PowerPoint?
Check to see if the page number placeholder is truned on on the Master – View -> Slide Master -> Slide Master tab -> Master Layout -> check ‘Slide Number’ is ticked.
They need to be set up on the Master Slide , but then once you closeMaster View , you need to go to Insert – Header & Footerand choose the item (Date and time, Slide number, or Footer ) that you want to appear on each slide. There is also an option there to check (or not)Don’t show on title slide .

The problem is you need to apply those changes to all the existing slides too. … So, if you changed the Title and Content layout, click a slide with that layout, select the Layout button on the Home tab, and then choose the Title and Content layout. The Slide Master changes appear.

You cannot remove the footer in the slide master, however, if you go to the insert menu on the ribbon and then select headers and footers, then untick the footer there and select apply to all, it removes the footer.
